Assalamu'alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

One of the core objectives behind NoorMatch is to provide a platform for Muslims that facilitates marriage in a way that is pleasing to Allah ﷻ.

For this reason, we are continuously looking for ways to facilitate the Halal, whilst restricting any means that may lead to Fitna or Haram.

We recently updated our policy to require sisters to include their wali in initial conversations. This means as a sister, you can sign up and use the platform without requiring a wali, however, when you match with a brother and want to start a conversation, you will be required to include your wali (if you have not already done so).

While this measure may seem restrictive, and we always strive to make the process as easy as possible, we felt it was a necessary step due to the very real dangers and temptations that can arise in correspondence between men and women. This helps ensure that conversations are conducted in a manner that is pleasing to Allah ﷻ and safeguards all parties involved.

This ensures:

  • The conversation is kept respectful and within the bounds of what is allowed
  • Both the brother and sister are protected from any temptations
  • The wali can provide guidance and advice, and engage with the brother directly for vetting purposes

Our recommendation for the brothers is to always get in touch with the wali as soon as possible, and for the walis of sisters to engage with the brother directly for vetting purposes, either through the platform, through a phone call, or in person (highly recommended).

As a sister, if a potential refuses to engage with your wali, then this may be an indication that they are not serious about marriage. In such cases, we would recommend reporting him to us so we can take action.

We have zero tolerance for those who are not serious about marriage, and we ask that you please report any such cases to us so we can take action.

If you are a sister who is a revert and/or do not have anyone to act as your wali, please feel free to reach out to us. While we are currently operating with a limited team, we are able to supervise the process and facilitate conversations to ensure they are carried out in a respectful and appropriate manner.

If you have any questions or would like to raise any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing us at support@noormatch.com.

We ask Allah ﷻ to guide us and allow us to continue to serve the Ummah in the best way possible.
